Every year, we here at LDT set out to bring you something new. Sometimes that means making a new wine. Sometimes it means exploring a new vineyard. And sometimes it means opening the door to a wine storage closet and realizing we’ve been sitting on a small mountain of wine for the better part of a decade.
You know the feeling. You reach into the cellar for that special bottle, only to discover you’ve opened the wrong one. The right bottle would have been perfect. The wrong bottle is now open, and there’s no turning back. Or maybe your kids or in-laws have raided your wine stash and made off with something they had absolutely no business touching. Worse yet, you forgot to reorder your favorite LDT bottle, and now it’s sold out.
In skiing, they call this being caught out of bounds. In winemaking, we call it poor planning.
Fortunately, we’ve found a way to help.
Introducing the LDT Library Wine Club.

For every wine we’ve made, with the exception of rosé, we’ve tucked away three cases in storage. Over 12 years, that has amounted to 81 different wines. Eighty one. Somewhere in our storage closet, there’s enough history to fill a few pretty good après-ski parties.
These bottles have been quietly aging while the rest of us went skiing, made more wine, and occasionally wondered what we should do with all those cases.
The answer, it turns out, was right in front of us. It was just behind a stack of bins and a few things Chris swears he’ll organize someday.
Now, we’re opening up this collection to our wine club members.

These are not extra bottles we’ve been holding back for a rainy day. This is the last of the inventory. The final few cases. When they’re gone, they’re gone. There is no secret stash beyond this stash. We’ve looked.
Shipments will be billed and sent in April and October each year.
Pricing is based on the original selling price of each wine, plus $3 for every year of age.
For example, a 2016 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir that originally sold for $25 would cost $55 today: $25 for the wine, plus $30 for its ten years of age.
Think of it as a lift ticket for a mountain you’ve never skied before. The terrain is familiar, but the experience is entirely different. And unlike a lift ticket, this one gets better the longer you wait.

Do we think this is a win? Absolutely. Should you be stoked? You bet.
LDT wines are crafted in an Old World style, built to age and evolve over time. Of course, knowing that wine gets better with age and actually leaving it alone long enough to prove it are two very different things.
Patience is a virtue. It’s also a miserable way to spend a Friday night when there’s a good bottle sitting right in front of you.
So we’ve done the hard part. We made the wine, tucked it away, and waited. For years. Through good winters, bad winters, and winters when Mount Hood looked more like a golf resort than a ski mountain.
Now it’s your turn to enjoy the rewards.
Find a few friends. Open a bottle. Tell a story or two. And remember, the best days on the mountain, and the best bottles of wine, are often the ones you never saw coming.
Cheers from the best skiing winemaking team you know.
Tosh and Chris
